Welcome to
Operation Shuis!

What is Operation Shuis?
It's an opportunity for fans of Passions super-couple Sheridan Crane (played by McKenzie Westmore) and Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald (played by Galen Gering) to join together with other fans in a coordinated group effort spanning the USA, Canada, Australia and anywhere else in the world that Passions is seen.

What does Shuis mean?
It is a combination of the characters' first names. It takes the SH from Sheridan and the UIS from Luis and combines them to form SHUIS

Why are the fans joining together?
Because there is strength in numbers and we want our voices to be heard.  It is easy for the people in charge of Passions to ignore individual fan letters and email which they receive one at a time.  We want to make it hard for them to ignore us and we want to show them just how many fans there are that care about Sheridan and Luis and their love story.

What is the point of Operation Shuis?  What are we trying to tell The Powers That Be (TPTB) at Passions and NBC?
We want to let them know that we are very concerned about what they may have planned for the future of Sheridan and Luis. Because the fans are so unhappy with the way the recent Shuis story line has gone, we are very worried about the direction of the future story line. We want to be sure that they know that if they CROSS THAT LINE and have either Sheridan or Luis sleep with someone else, the fans will feel that the special love story of Sheridan and Luis has been destroyed. Operation Shuis is a way that we can show TPTB how many fans they will lose if they choose this course of action because there would be nothing that they could do to keep us, the Shuis fans, watching Passions after that.

Why do this now?
Why not now?  We are concerned now.  Since the middle of August 2001 (when the boat exploded in Bermuda), the Shuis fans have been steadily growing more and more unhappy with the story line that Passions has given us to watch for Sheridan and Luis.  As the months of unhappiness with Passions have gone by, more fans have expressed a desire to make their feelings known.  Because of the choices made by TPTB about Sheridan and Luis in the past year, we are worried about what they have planned for the couple's future.

Any other reasons to do Operation Shuis now?
We've watched the traffic slow down on the Internet message boards.  We've talked with our fellow Passions fans.  We have heard about many fans who, feeling like they have been pushed to their limit of patience and tolerance, have already stopped watching Passions.  We are also aware of the number of Shuis fans who are still watching Passions, but are very dissatisfied with the Sheridan and Luis story line.  All of those things combine to make NOW seem like the best time to tell TPTB that the Shuis fans can be pushed only so far before they permanently stop watching Passions.

Anything else factor into it?
As far as we know, there hasn't been a coordinated effort to give a voice to all the fans of Sheridan and Luis before this time.  With so many past and present Shuis fans wanting to have their say about the past, present and future of Sheridan and Luis, we figured, why not now?  Operation Shuis is an opportunity for all the fans of Sheridan and Luis who are feeling upset, angry, disheartened, disillusioned, disappointed and/or betrayed, to have a chance to speak out about how they feel and to have their voices heard by TPTB.

What exactly can the fans DO to tell TPTB how we feel about Sheridan and Luis?
We are asking all of the present and former fans of Sheridan and Luis to send Operation Shuis postcards to NBC and Passions.

What do I put on my postcard to show I'm part of Operation Shuis?
Every postcard should have the Operation Shuis symbol = a big red STOP sign.

A "STOP" sign?
Well, we want them to STOP the direction of the current story line for Sheridan and Luis before it goes too far and ….. we thought a lot of Shuis fans would like to shout “STOP!” at the people in charge of Passions.

Where do I put this STOP Sign?
Put the STOP sign on the back side/address side of the postcard

Is there anything else I need to put on my postcard to show I'm part of Operation Shuis?
Yes.  The back side/address side of every postcard should also have the Operation Shuis theme = STOP! IN THE NAME OF LOVE. Together, the STOP sign symbol and the theme will show your postcard is a part of Operation Shuis

What if I can't draw a decent-looking STOP sign on my postcard?
No problem.  Just hand write the word STOP in big red letters.  Use a red pen, red pencil, red marking pen or a red crayon,  Just make sure that you write STOP in big red letters. You can also purchase STOP sign stickers and affix them to the postcards

Or

You can download the postcard template with a STOP sign and the theme already on it.

What about the other side of the postcard, the picture side?
We have created some postcard templates with photos of Sheridan and Luis that you can download.  There are 5 postcards designs in color and 2 in black & white.  There are instructions on the postcard page to help you download the postcards to your computer, so that you can then print out your Operation Shuis postcards on your own printer.

Or

You can purchase postcards with pictures on them that mean something to you. Just be sure that you hand write the STOP sign and the theme on the back/address side of the postcard

What if I buy postcards that are blank on both sides?
You can print the front and back of the postcards using our postcard templates

Or

If you are going to hand write rather than use a computer printer, be sure that you put the STOP sign and theme on the back/address side of the postcard. If you don’t want to leave the front side of the postcard blank, you can either draw a STOP sign, or you can write “SHERIDAN AND LUIS” along with the line from the song Imagine which is on the front of the postcard templates, “TO KNOW YOU IS A GIFT FROM ABOVE … IMAGINE IF THEY FELL IN LOVE”

I don't have a color printer, can I still use the postcard design templates?
Yes, you can still use the postcard templates.  The pictures will print out in black & white.  After you print, you can then add color to your black & white postcards with highlighters, pens, colored pencils or even crayons.

What if I want to say something from my own thoughts to TPTB on my postcard?

There should be room on the back side/address side of the postcard, beneath the STOP sign and theme, for you to add some brief comments of your own.

What should I say?
The main idea of Operation Shuis is to express concern about the future story line for Sheridan and Luis, so it would be best if your comments were about that.  However, we realize that Sheridan and Luis fans have much that they want to say about what they have already watched, so if you want to comment on the past or present story lines or just tell them why Sheridan and Luis are important to you, please feel free to do so.  If you would like to see some sample comments that you could put on your postcard, click here.

Should I put my name on the postcard?

It is up to you whether or not to include any personal information, such as your name, your screen name, your age or how long you've been watching (or not watching)

Is there anything I should NOT say in my personal comments?
Actually, yes there is.  Please don't bash other characters on the show.  Operations Shuis is about Sheridan and Luis.  Please keep your comments about Sheridan and Luis - their future, present and past.  We are asking that you not mention Beth or Brian/Antonio in any way.

After I get my postcards ready, where do I send them?  Who do I send them to?

Send the postcards to:

 Ms. Lisa S. Hesser
 Executive Producer
 "Passions"
 4024 Radford Avenue
 Studio City, CA  91604

AND

Mr. Sheraton Kalouria
Senior Vice-President
Daytime Programming
"NBC-TV"
3000 W. Alameda Avenue
Burbank CA 91523

Should I send postcards to anyone else?
No.  Please send the postcards ONLY to Lisa Hesser and Sheraton Kalouria

Why send cards only to two people?  Why not spread the word around?
We are sending cards to only two people because we want to maximize the effect of the postcards. We are trying to make sure that they feel the full weight and effect of receiving a whole lot of postcards from a whole lot of fans

Don't worry though, we have planned other methods that we will use to spread the word around.  All you have to do is send in those postcards.

Why send the postcards to those two particular people?
We believe that Lisa Hesser and Sheraton Kalouria are the people at Passions and NBC who can ensure that the future story lines for Sheridan and Luis are what their fans want to see.

How will Ms. Hesser and Mr. Kalouria know what the postcards are all about?
We are taking care of that.  If you would like to read the letter that was sent to Ms. Hesser and Mr. Kalouria explaining to them what Operation Shuis is all about, click here.

How many postcards should I send?
Send as many postcards as you can.  The more - the better.  If you can only send in one card, that's fine too.  One card or 100 cards, every card helps our cause and we appreciate every fan's effort to contribute to Operation Shuis.

When should I send my cards in?
Any time during the month of May 2002.

Should I send my cards all at once or spread them out in separate mailings during May?
Either way is great.  Just send those cards.

Where can I get postcards that I can hand-write on rather than printing on the computer?
If you want to hand-write your postcards, you can buy plain white postcards from the post office.  You can also purchase plain or picture postcards from stationery stores, markets, office supply stores and many other places.

Where can I get postcards to use with my computer printer?
Most office supply and stationery stores carry paper products, including postcards for use with computer printers.  Most of the postcards come in boxes with the cards in 2 main sizes.  Typically, the 3 x 5 postcards are 4 to a page and 200 to a box.  The 4 x 6 postcards are 2 to a page and 100 per box.

Why are we sending postcards?  Why not send letters or roses or colored sprinkles?
Because postcards are the easiest and least expensive (21 cents postage) thing to send.  We want to make this as hassle free for the fans as we can, so that lots of people will participate and send in lots of cards.

I quit watching Passions already, can I still participate and send in postcards?
Heck yeah!  We would love it if all of the past and present fans of Sheridan and Luis joined together and sent in postcards.  As they say, the more the merrier.

Can I tell other people about Operation Shuis?
YES!  YES!!  YES!!!  Please, spread the word.  Tell everyone you know who is now or ever was a fan of Sheridan and Luis about Operation Shuis and encourage them to join in with the group effort and send in some postcards.

Will we know how many cards have been sent in?
Since we are trying to encourage as many fans as possible to send in cards, including fans who don't have Internet access, we won't be able to provide a specific count of the number of postcards sent in.  However, if you want to email us and tell us how many cards you've sent in, we'll try to put a rough estimate of the postcard count here.

ESTIMATED NUMBER OF POSTCARDS SENT DURING OPERATION SHUIS
1357 (this number only reflects numbers of cards already sent in and response sent to this email address.)

What if I have more questions?
You can email us with any additional questions about Operation Shuis.
